Keith Urban's Musical Heroes Helped Shape The Kind Of Music He Creates
Keith Urban's brand of country music is a little more progressive than some of his peers, and he points to some of his musical heroes who also stretched the boundaries of country as inspiration. Keith was raised on the music of innovative artists like Ronnie Milsap and Alabama -- acts that weren't likely to dress up in Western wear. He says, "Even the first concert I saw was Johnny Cash. No hat."
Most of the music Keith heard as a kid came from his father's collection of country albums. Keith says, "I'm sure if he was into African music, I'd be in Zimbabwe." Luckily for us, Keith moved to Nashville.
Keith says that Don Williams was also a big influence on him
